Suzuki Ingerslev, art director
Six Feet Under, HBO, client
After seeing an exhibition of my photosculpture work titled 'Paper Thin' at Bert Green Fine Art in Los Angeles, art director Suzuki Ingerslev commissioned four photosculptures and this resulting series to use as the character Claire Fisher's work on HBO's Six Feet Under. Viewed as a perfect fit to reflect Claire's power to change and grow as both an artist and a person in a cutthroat art school and world, the work was featured from a fictitious genesis through the creative process and climactically in Claire's first prestigious gallery show. My artwork explores the paradox between perceived and possible realities: the constant conflict between change and growth. I use photosculpture to epitomize the mutual repulsion of, and attraction to, the destructive force of creation. I celebrate that power to transform.
